[caption id="attachment_14" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="what-is-blog"]what-is-blog[/caption]

The word blog is the amalgamation of the two words “web” and “log.” The term blogging often refers to sharing ones opinions, beliefs and thoughts on a website. Blogs may also contain videos, graphics, images and links to other websites. Online blogs often become a forum for discussion as viewers are allowed to comment on what the “blogger” has written.

History of Blogging

Have we ever given a thought to how blogs became such a huge part and parcel of our lives? Everybody reads blogs. We follow blogs by celebrities, friends and relatives. John Barger coined the word “Web Log” in December 1997. Peter Meherloz who was  a programmer shortened “Web Log” to Blog in 1999.

Top 5 Reasons - Why You Have Not Made Your First Dollar Online Till Now?

There are a number of people who are trying their best to earn money online. Are you one of them? If yes, have you succeeded in making your first dollar online? If you know that you are working hard, you should have earned something by now. Does this fact disturb you? There could be many reasons why you have not been able to earn so far.
Please don’t take my post wrong. I am not a millionaire making obscene amounts of money by working online. I am a simple guy making a modest income. I am happy with whatever I earn. I am writing this blog so I can help you. I do not want you to commit the same mistakes I made when I started off. I can help you overcome your problems and make you earn your first dollar online.
Top 5 Reasons of Your Failure:

  • You are Too Lazy:
Nothing in this world comes easy. Most people think working online is the easiest way to make money and income will flow on its own. This is not the case. We all work hard for everything. We work hard to get a college degree. We struggle to get jobs and maintain them. Getting a good amount of money from working online also requires a lot of struggle and hard work. The amount of money you earn is directly dependent on the number of hours you put in.  Some people put in over eight to ten hours a day to earn a decent amount of money.

  • You Want Results Very Fast:

Every person who starts an online job wants quick results. If earning money online was so simple, every individual would quit a full time job to start earning online. People think that if they invest a hundred dollars today, they will earn a thousand tomorrow. If this was the case, why on earth would people do nine to five jobs? Online jobs take a lot of time in getting returns. You may take fifteen days to three months to start making a modest amount of money.
  •  You Are Not Ready To Learn:
An online job is as good as an offline job. You have to know your basics. There are no shortcuts to a successful career. People who do work online focus on making money fast. They do not focus on doing a good job or building a career or reputation. This is a wrong concept. You need to have good knowledge so be prepared to learn a lot of new things. There are a large number of websites related to online selling and marketing. You will also be able to read blogs of experienced marketers. Certain tips and tricks will do wonders to how much you can earn.
  •  You Don’t Respect Others:
Internet scams and fast money making proposals have taught people not to believe in internet marketers. There are many companies who work hard to make good products and services. Most people think that people who do online marketing sell trashy stuff. This is not true in most cases. There are lots of good people in the market too. They work extremely hard to promote or sell their products across the globe. Before you spend any amount of money, verify the seller by trying to contact them personally. These marketers are very successful people. You need to respect them a lot. Try learning tips and tricks from them too.
  • You Are Not Ready To Invest:

All businesses require a little investment. Similarly online businesses also require investments from individuals. We all spent money on getting a good college education. We all bought books for school. How can we expect any returns without spending a penny? Invest on a good program that teaches you tips and tricks of making money online. If you think you already know everything, think again. The internet is an ever changing place. There are hundreds of online programs for e-learning but before you buy anything, make sure that the company is not bogus. Contact them personally before you make any purchases from their website. If you are not willing to spend any money, then it is advisable that you quit. You need not spend any amount of time in trying to make money online.
If you think I am trying to sell something to you, then this is not the case. The web is full of e-books, tutorials and websites trying to teach you how to make money online. If you browse through my blogs you will also come across more articles about the same issue. You may request tutorials; I will try my best to help you make a few bucks online.

Google’s First Page- Just a Few Steps Away – Part 2

In my previous article about - How To Get On First Page Of Google In 24 Hours (Part 1), I have mentioned some useful strategies and hope these are working well for you. If it is so, you should try few more strategies that I have mentioned here in Part 2.

  •   SEO optimize the video
This is the last and most crucial step of getting on the first page of Google.
  •  Make sure you use the keyword in the title of the video. Preferably the keywords should be in the beginning of the title. You also need to use the keyword in the description of the video.
  • You should ensure that the link of your blog or website is the first line of the description. In this manner, the viewer of your video will be able to click on your link without expanding the description.
  •   Try to write a description of about 50-100 words. Use your keyword and related keywords atleast two to three times in the description
  • When you write the tags, ensure that they are at least 10-15 words long. A great way to write tags is to look for videos based on a similar theme as yours. You may copy tags from videos which have received a large number of clicks. In this manner, your video will started appearing in the “related videos” field when one of the popular videos is playing.
  • Make your video public and select the “allow comments automatically” option. The number of comments you receive, determines your rank on Google or YouTube.

Choice of keywords is the basis of this strategy; by choosing keywords which are “below the radar” you automatically lower the competition. In this manner, you can get to the top of Google rankings without building a single backlink. Another advantage of using this strategy is that Videos always standout on the Google search page.

The real beauty of this technique is that it is very simple to make videos. You can make several videos based on the content you write. Several videos based on “long tailing keywords” can generate huge amounts of traffic for your website.
This strategy has worked wonders for me. If you try it, I am sure it will work for you too.

[caption id="attachment_212" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="Work at Home - SupremeInfoSolution.com"][/caption]
Just follow the steps you need to take:

  •  Find a “Long Tail” keyword
Use a Google Keywords application or any other application like Word Tracker to find a “long tail” keyword of your choice. Look for a keyword which gets about 10-40 searches a day. These are called below the radar keywords and are often ignored by marketers. Keywords which get about 80-100 searches a day are normally targeted by marketers.
  •  Create a short article on the same subject
Write a short article on the subject you have chosen. Use the keywords properly. Many article directories like www.EzineArticles.com tend to reject articles which have very high keyword density. Create a PowerPoint presentation of the subject you have written about. If you use a MAC, a keynote presentation will do. Create about ten to fifteen slides about the subject. Make the last few slides especially interesting. They will motivate the viewers to visit your blog or website.
  •  Turn your Presentation into a video
You can turn your presentation into a video using one of the two ways. Use software like Camtasia, which has a PowerPoint add-in to convert your presentation. You may also take the output of your presentation in the native format and the use a service like author stream to convert the file into MP4 format.
  •  Upload your video to YouTube
YouTube is the world’s leading website for uploading videos. It is owned by Google, Inc. Uploading on YouTube greatly increases the chances of your video appearing on Google’s first page. How to comment on Blogs – Tips

Blog World Ethics

The ‘blogosphere’ is a very close knit community of bloggers. Commenting on blogs can really bring you close to fellow bloggers. Though commenting is healthy, if not done tactfully, it can create a negative impact. They can be offensive and annoying also. Try not to use derogatory or cheap language while commenting. Always write original comments. Don’t copy and paste. There are a few guidelines that you may follow while writing comments.
Blog Comments
Be Honest
Honesty is the best Policy. Whenever you are commenting on a blog, try being honest about what you feel. If you do not like a particular post, don’t leave comments to generate back links to your website. Always read the complete blog before writing any comments, you may actually end up liking what is written.

Don’t write short Comments
Short comments like “nice post” or “very informative” look like spam. They are likely to be ignored. Write slightly longer posts which are informative. You may elaborate on the subject of the blog or raise queries. Write only when you have something valuable to write.

Write your Opinion
It is advisable that you voice your opinion about a blog truthfully. Be illustrative and logical. Don’t use very strong language if you don’t like a particular post. If you don’t agree to a particular idea, you may say so but you should also state your reason for the same.

Address the Blogger by Name
It is a nice gesture to refer to a blogger by name in your comment. It is observed that bloggers pay more attention to comments with names. Comments with names are always more respectful and plus they stand out from the rest of the comments.

Be Polite
Offensive language and strong words are not acceptable while commenting on other people’s blogs. Never create a negative reputation for yourself. It’s acceptable to disagree to a person’s ideas, but even while expressing your disagreement, you should be polite. Always treat a fellow blogger in the same manner you would like him to treat you.

Avoid Spamming
At all cost, do not post spam on other people’s blogs. Random links, irrelevant comments and URLs are not appreciated by moderators in most cases.

Mass Commenting
There are some people who reply to several posts on the same blog in a similar manner. Avoid doing that irrespective of how relevant your comments are. This can be treated as link spamming. Your comments may be deleted. Some people do this to promote back links to their own blogs.
Do not Submit the Same Comment on Multiple Blogs
If you find more than one blog on the same topic, avoid posting the same comment on all of them. There are chances that your comment will be deleted. Make sure that your comments are totally relevant to the blog and are constructive. Comments like “nice post” are ignored in most cases.

Share your Ideas
Your comments should be a reflection of your ideas and beliefs. They should express your opinion about a particular topic. If you manage to convey your opinion, your post will be extremely valuable.

Write your URL in the URL box only
Always write your blog’s URL in the URL box provided separately. It is rude to paste links to your website in the comment box.

Don’t Put too Many Keywords in the Name Field
Moderators don’t mind if you put your name or your company’s name in the name field. But some blog owners object if you stuff the name field with too many keywords. Always keep in mind that blogs are a platform for sharing ideas and not promoting websites.

Commenting for Networking
You can use the comment box of the blog to interact with blog owners on a continual basis. This builds a healthy relationship between two fellow bloggers. You can even invite the blogger to be a guest writer on yours. It will add variety to your blog.

4 Golden Rules of Naming a Business

A name speaks volumes about a business. It reflects the brand value of the brand. Whether the business is big or small, the name means a lot to the business and the people associated with it. A good name can make your business the talk of the town within days. It can make or break a brand.

People put in a lot of effort in starting a business. First they come up with a business idea, make a huge effort to do market research. They formulate a business plan; decide upon the markets to enter and the amount to invest. I feel, they should put in a similar sort of effort to name their business too. Ideally a name should signify the product or service your company has to offer.

Many people feel differently about naming a company. This issue is highly debatable by some naming experts and brand managers. Many experts feel that the name should be catchy yet it should be informative enough so that the target segment comes to know about the brand immediately. According to certain brand managers, a name should be like a blank canvas on which people can create the image of a brand they have in mind.

Listed below are a few factors that one should keep in mind while naming a company but always keep in mind that the name should not be trademarked or registered by some other person. Listed below are the four basic rules of naming a brand.

Your name should not look like a copy of another big brand name. Impersonating names of big companies is not a good business strategy. It looks as if your brand is following the footsteps of another brand. Be original and think out of the box. Your brand is your own. The values cannot be copied from anyone.

Keep it Simple. Don’t go overboard while naming your brand. Over creative names are hard to remember. Customers find it extremely difficult to remember names which are difficult. If you want to establish a relationship with your customers make sure your name is catchy and simple. Avoid using words of foreign origin or something really fancy.

Naming a company is not a day’s job. Time plays an important role when you are in the process of choosing a name. Make a list of probable names. Do a bit of market research to know what name is more attractive. Talk to family and friends for ideas. If you have already hired your staff, take them into confidence, brainstorm with them before choosing a name. There are times when you may need to repeat the above steps three to four times before you can come up with a satisfactory name.

It is always a good idea to choose a name which has a global impact. Today you may be working at a local level. Tomorrow you may want to expand into newer markets. Choose a name which is not to local. For example, naming your company after a local landmark or a famous street is not really a good idea. People in other cities will not relate to it. Always think of a bright future. A good name should be universal. It should be free of any language issues.

7 Simple But Effective Ways To Improve Your Google PageRank

Google PageRank is named after the founder of Google Inc, Larry Page. As the name suggests, Google PageRank is an algorithm for analyzing links. It is a system of assigning a numerical value to every website with the purpose of measuring its importance in relation to other web pages.

PageRank usually analyses the number of inbound links to the website and assesses its quality. Every backlink to the website can be counted as a vote in the favour of the website. A page linked to another page of a higher rank automatically receives a high ranking on the algorithm.

Most webmasters consider Google PageRank as a crucial factor to achieve higher rankings on search engines. If you want to know how to build quality backlinks, refer to our article on ’11 proven techniques to build free quality backlinks for your website or blog’.

How to Speed up Your Computer

Our lives are dependent on our computers these days. We spend more time on our computer than we spend anywhere else. Most people believe that since they spend most of their time working on the internet, their connection speed is important and not their computer. But the truth is that if you have a slow computer and a fast internet connection, you will not be able to make use of the speed. The following post gives you some insights about how to make your computer faster. Even if you have the fastest internet connection in the world, the speed of your computer will determine how fast you can browse.

Upgrading your Memory

Your computer’s memory is most important factor that determines the speed of your computer. If you are using a 256 MB RAM. Please don’t expect your computer to run fast. The configuration of your computer is vital if you expect it to perform well. For example, if you have a 256 GB hard disk and a Pentium 4 processor, you will also need to upgrade your RAM from 256 MB. Your computer may give a huge amount of problem if you use this sort of configuration.
You may check the configuration I.e. processor, processor speed, RAM, Hard disk etc by right clicking on “my computer” and choosing “properties” from the drop down menu.

Upgrading your Hardware
Your hardware is crucial where speed is concerned. Good quality, genuine hardware can work wonders In speeding your computer up. Ensure that you are using the latest quality hardware manufactured by the company for optimum speed. You may also visit your nearest computer store or service centre for more help on the kind of hardware you would need. You may consider a change of processor or a larger hard disk. Using too many plug and play devices also slows the computer down. Consider removing any devices that you do not use too frequently.

Cleaning up Your Desktop
Remove all the unwanted clutter from your desktop, unnecessary icons and barely used programs slow down the computer and affect the speed of your RAM. Take time to remove any unwanted software. If you have a habit of downloading software from the internet, try not to create their icon on your desktop. Remove the software once you finish using it. You may also use the disk cleanup facility provided by windows to remove any unwanted files and temp files from your computer. A disk cleanup can boost the speed of your computer.

Checking Your System for Viruses
If your system is slow, then this is probably the first step you should take to ensure that the speed is up to your expectation. Viruses can be very dangerous and subtle at times. Some viruses are very difficult to detect and remove. Ensure that your anti virus is strong and updated. New viruses come out every day. Always update your antivirus.
